The 2015-2016 Legislature made great first steps in confronting New Hampshire's opioid crisis. The crisis presents public health and safety challenges that the state needs to continue to address. As a state representative, I supported the governor's comprehensive plan to address substance use issues and co-occurring mental health issues. The legislature's reauthorization of the New Hampshire Health Protection plan will allow 50,000 Granite-Staters to keep their health insurance. As a state senator, I will work with other legislators to make sure we continue to devote resources to law enforcement, treatment, and prevention.
