I'm sure you have heard the phrase … "The Busway to Nowhere?" The New Britain/ Hartford Busway is costing taxpayers over $600 million dollars to construct. It is a clear definition of a boondoggle.

I strongly believe that the safety of our residents should be a priority for our legislators. A recent report released by the U.S. Federal Highway Administration found that the State of Connecticut has more than 400 bridges that are structurally unstable. In addition to the mess our bridges are in, our roads are deplorable. We have potholes the size of craters in some areas.

Connecticut's Special Transportation Fund, financed by the taxes we pay at the gas pump, is supposed to be used to fix these issues. Governor Malloy continues to allow the fund to be raided to meet current operating expenses, rather than repair our roads and bridges.
I voted for the Constitutional Amendment requiring the Governor to use money in the Transportation Fund ONLY for its designated purpose, otherwise known as the "Lockbox".

Rumors continue to circulate that Connecticut will increase the gas tax to satisfy our insatiable pending habits. I will continue to oppose any increase to the gas tax.
