Living on the Cape and Islands is growing harder and harder for our residents with each passing year. We need strong leadership so that young families can settle here and seniors can retire with peace of mind. With little undeveloped land left throughout the region, housing production has crawled to a snail's pace, and that lack of housing is stifling economic activity. Residents young and old are being forced to leave this magical place and move elsewhere. New energy and creative ideas are needed to tackle this problem. I intend to work tirelessly with the voters in this district to envision and realize a 21st century Cape and Islands where all are welcome and all can thrive. I will strive to:
*Fund programs that incentivize the development of rental housing that's financially attainable and available to residents of all ages, both low and middle income
*Establish tax free saving accounts for first-time homeowners, so that those who want to make a future on the Cape & Island have a shot at buying stable housing
*Build the infrastructure necessary to provide the variety of housing types increasingly in demand by both those 55+ and young professionals
*Modernize the Commonwealth's antiquated zoning and planning laws to give our towns the tools they need to thrive
*Pass special legislation for tailored, local solutions to specific housing needs, such as options for tiny housing and accessory dwelling units
