Issue Position

Due to technological developments, the United States has the ability to be the world's leading producer of energy. Of course, this is good for the economy, as good-paying jobs are plentiful in the energy sector and increased supply laces a downward pressure on energy prices. Perhaps just as important, by assuming the dominant position in the world market, the United States can undermine the capacity of Russia and OPEC to shape global affairs.
