Teachers and local school boards take the brunt of democratic policies, like the bullying bill, instead of leaving the local experts to take care of their own issues. Every school district had its own policies of dealing with bullying problems before the bureaucrats stepped in to mandate and try to fix something that didn't need to be fixed. The paperwork alone is tremendous. The state government is not to control and mandate schools -- that is the job of local teachers and school boards, who can personalize their problem-solving for their specific school's needs. The one-size-fits-all government policies are not practical or effective. I am a strong supporter of choice in education -- the choices of the students' parents, the choices of the teachers, and the choices of the communities.
