Co-founding the Edina Foundation Inc., which gives away need-based scholarships to Edina High Schoolers, I understand the most critical investment we can make as a state and community is in that of our children. As your next State Representative, I will work to give every family the choice to put their children in schools that work best for them, allow schools to keep their best and brightest teachers teaching -- as opposed to abiding by outdated seniority preferences, and reinvest in school infrastructure and students, instead of lobbyists and special interests. As your Representative, I will:
Work to ensure that parents are given a legitimate choice to provide their children with the best schooling available to them; this includes implementing a strong voucher program in Minnesota and significantly expanding charter schools
Allow schools to keep their best teachers based on performance, as opposed to being handcuffed by antiquated tenure restrictions
Significantly expand educational funding in technology and digital learning -- focusing on skills like programming and IT architecture
