Date: Aug. 18, 2016
Location: Helena, MT

An influential group representing small businesses across Montana is backing Bozeman businessman and tech entrepreneur Greg Gianforte for governor.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) represents 5,200 member businesses across the state which employ more than 41,000 Montanans. Riley Johnson, the Montana State Director for the NFIB, sent a letter of endorsement to Gianforte earlier this week (a similar statement is available on the NFIB website).

RILEY JOHNSON LETTER TO GREG GIANFORTE "You have demonstrated a willingness to fight for small business in Helena. Your policy positions on small business issues show that you intend to fight to protect our free enterprise system and understand the importance of small business to our state's economy.

GREG GIANFORTE: "Regulations, taxes, and healthcare costs are a burden on small businesses across Montana today. I'm running to lighten that burden so more will prosper. I'm thrilled to have the support of NFIB."

Gianforte is the founder of RightNow Technologies. He and his wife started that small business out of their home in Bozeman, which quickly grew to over 500 high wage Montana jobs. The average Montana salary at RightNow was nearly $90,000 a year. Oracle purchased RightNow in 2012, and continues to expand the company's footprint in Montana.

The NFIB joins a distinguished list of organizations and individuals endorsing the Gianforte campaign; including the National Rifle Association, the Montana Chamber of Commerce, Montana Farm Bureau, the Montana Building Industry Association, the Montana Bankers Association, the Montana Shooting Sports Association, the Susan B. Anthony List, the Montana Association of Realtors, several former Montana governors and statewide officials, and others.
