Issue Position

Wisconsin has one of the best education systems in the country, thanks to our great teachers and schools. However, we must continue to look for ways to improve and reform education to meet the needs of our workforce. We also know that the most important educational decisions need to be made at the local level.

I believe there's not one answer to solve all our educational problems nor is there one type of school that fits every child's needs. I support the expansion of charter schools to allow the best schools to replicate themselves and serve more children. I welcome merit pay so the best teachers can be rewarded for their excellent work in the classroom. I helped bring school choice to Racine to allow parents to decide the best educational choice for their child. Every child deserves to have the best possible education no matter where they choose to attend school.
