Issue Position: Education and Opportunity for All

Issue Position

The best chance at a middle class life in Michigan starts with a good education. Today, that often means earning a college degree. Currently, we're not doing enough to make that a viable option for everyone. With proper investment, Michigan can once again lead the way and provide a world-class education to all of our students.

Knowledge and Skills for the Future

As a teacher, I know what Michigan students need in order to be successful in an ever-changing world. It's imperative that we fully fund our classrooms from Pre-K through college graduation so our students are on the cutting edge of reading, math, science, and technology. Additionally, our teachers need proper pay for their hard work and dedication.

Affordable College Choices

As the first in my family with a college degree, I know how difficult it can be to pay for and get through college. Michigan can invest more in our colleges and universities so tuition rates don't increase year after year and students can finish their degree with limited or no debt.

Closing the Opportunity Gap

Michigan students don't have equal chances to earn an excellent education. To close the gap, Michigan needs to expand early childhood education, lower class sizes, reform testing, support and mentor new teachers, recruit more teachers of color, and offer more culturally-responsive courses.
