I proudly voted for the passage of a new law protecting the 2nd amendment rights of Kansans. The provision states that no firearm manufactured, sold, and owned in the State of Kansas may be confiscated by the federal government. This is an effort by Kansas to defend itself against federal overreach and to ensure its sovereignty as a state.

The law has been brought to question by U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder. He claims the new law is unconstitutional and pre-empts federal law. Governor Brownback has taken a strong stance of support for the new law and Attorney General Derek Schmidt is ready for any potential legal challenge that may ensue. Kansans will no longer have to worry about unwarranted and unconstitutional gun control laws restricting them from purchasing, owning, and using firearms for legitimate purposes as guaranteed by the Second Amendment.
