We MUST HAVE a Permanent solution to the West Lake Landfill / Bridgeton Landfill CRISIS
There is a real crisis that will effect more people than our current government wants to acknowledge. The State of Missouri and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources need to take the lead to resolve the crisis. We can only succeed if the Army Corps of Engineers takes control of Westlake from the EPA through successful legislation from our Federal Senators and Representatives. The Missouri House and Senate must equally own this situation and be prepared to allocate our share of the funds that are needed. This needs to happen NOW! I have a three year old son that is breathing in the pollutants that are ALREADY being emitted into the air by the "Smoldering" Bridgeton Landfill. I need to look out for his health, my neighbors health, and the lives of every human being who is now affected, and will increasingly become more affected as the fire grows. I have had the opportunity to attend the meetings held in Bridgeton to learn more and more about the history of Saint Louis and our involvement with the Manhattan Project. I admire the bravery and determination of two women, MOTHERS, who have devoted their lives over the past years to bringing awareness to the public, when landfill owners and the EPA would have liked for no one to be any wiser. If these two Mothers can accomplish SO much in a short amount of time, there is NO reason that any Legislator in the State of Missouri or the Federal Government should not work just as hard until the Crisis is OVER.
I WILL be part of the solution!
