Issue Position: LGBTQ Equality

Issue Position

Michael has been a supporter of marriage equality for years and will continue to fight for equal protections for the LGBTQ community, because no one should be discriminated against because of who they are or whom they love.

Over the last couple of years, we have made important strides to expand LGBTQ equality across the nation. In Congress, Michael voted to repeal the misguided "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy and supported President Obama's executive action to ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity among federal employees.

But there's more work to do. While some state legislatures across the country are passing laws that discriminate against the LGBTQ community, Michael is working to pass a federal employment non-discrimination law that will protect LGBTQ workers nationwide.
