Michael isn't afraid to take on his own party or work across the aisle to get things done for Colorado.
Michael has spent the last seven years traveling the state, listening to Coloradans and bringing common sense solutions to Washington. Michael's top priority is to get things done for Colorado, even if that means standing up to his own party.
When the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) proposed burdensome regulations that would have made it difficult and expensive for breweries to sell their spent grains to local farmers, Michael listened to Colorado brewers, farmers and ranchers and successfully persuaded the FDA to rewrite the rules so that Colorado breweries and farmers could continue to work together.
In 2010, the Obama administration announced the cancellation of NASA's ORION project, which employs 1,000 Coloradans at 22 companies around the state. Michael stood up to the administration and successfully urged them to fund the project and protect those jobs.
And when people in southwest Colorado had to drive hundreds of miles for a hearing on their disability benefits, Michael successfully urged the Social Security Administration to make hearings available over teleconference.
