On this issue, my opponent has a radical "raise taxes first" position. He makes no secret of his support for an automatic annual gas tax hike to fund transportation projects - plus other increased vehicle fees. We need our roads fixed. But the problem is the power structure in Columbia. Currently, just a handful of legislators control the money. Until full reforms of SCDOT are implemented and the State Transportation and Infrastructure Bank (STIB) is abolished, I will vote against any proposal that increases revenue.
