Today, Rep. Walz released the following statement on the shootings in Dallas:

We are in mourning for the Dallas Police Department. My heart goes out to the loved ones of the officers who were assassinated last night while protecting the public during a protest.

I am deeply saddened and angered by this violent act of hate and terror against these brave public servants. An attack on law enforcement is an attack on our democracy. We can never forget that many U.S. military veterans who fight for us overseas come home and transition into civilian law enforcement.

For the sake of our democracy, we must immediately redouble our efforts to restore trust and respect between the public and law enforcement. I am confident the American people will come together and focus on love not hate, peace not violence.
