Orlando Tragedy

Statement

Following the recent mass shooting in Orlando, Matthew Corey, candidate for U.S. Congress (Connecticut - District 1), made the following statement:

"My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families of this tragic shooting. It's heartwarming to see the outpouring of support to this senseless tragedy. We should be proud of the selfless sacrifices of our law enforcement and patrons who put their lives in harm's way for fellow citizens. We as a nation should condemn intolerance of America's values and way of life. We need to address how Home Land Security shares information with state and local law enforcement. We as citizens also need to report people whom seem radical or unstable like the co-workers of this Islamic radical terrorist did. The Idea of racial profiling should be secondary to the safety of a nation. As we see time and time again, our CT Delegation does not waste a tragedy to push their agenda for gun control. There is no reason to punish law abiding citizens by restricting them for exercising their right to protect themselves. It's unfortunate with the recent budget cuts our mental health programs have been decimated."
