U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte released the following statement today regarding the release of the House Select Committee on Benghazi investigative report:
"In the months before the Benghazi terrorist attack that took the lives of four heroic Americans, the administration ignored a deteriorating security situation and the State Department disregarded repeated requests for increased security. During the hours-long terrorist attack, the Department of Defense failed to help our fellow Americans under fire, and in the subsequent days, the administration seemed more interested in supporting a political narrative than telling the American people the truth.
"To prevent such a horrible tragedy from happening again, we must ensure that Americans serving in dangerous locations are properly protected, and that the Department of Defense has the resources and capabilities necessary to intervene in time to protect American lives."
