Issue Position: Leading Voice for Kansas Agriculture

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2016

Jerry Moran has been a trusted champion of Kansas farmers and ranchers. He has stood up to Obama's EPA regulations that hurt our family farms.

When Republicans captured the Senate majority for the 114th Congress, Jerry Moran was appointed chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture.

Growing up in Western Kansas taught Jerry Moran that government can make the lives of Kansas farmers and ranchers more difficult by creating uncertainty and throwing needless regulations, taxes, fees, and restrictions our way. Jerry believes that regulators and bureaucrats need to let farmers and ranchers be the responsible stewards of the land that they always have been.

Most recently, Senator Moran battled the Obama Administration on the listing of the lesser prairie chicken as a threatened species and fought the proposed WOTUS rule. He aggressively stood up to the EPA and said it couldn't regulate farm dust, and successfully opposed the government's attempt to tell us our kids couldn't work on our family farms. He took on the head of the USDA, regarding its foolish promotion of "meatless Mondays."
