Johnson Statement on Terrorism and Firearms

Statement

Date: June 21, 2016
Location: Washington, DC

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) released the following statement Monday after the Senate voted on measures related to terrorism and firearms:

"I believe we all share the same goal -- that terrorists should not be able to obtain arms. But we should be careful before using government lists with undefined criteria as the basis for revoking Americans' constitutional rights. That's why I voted for measures by Sen. Grassley to improve background checks and by Sen. Cornyn to protect Americans' security and the due process of law under the Constitution. If Democrats cared about making improvements in gun laws, they would have supported these genuine improvements instead of playing politics."
