Steve has been a proven leader in supporting the brave men and women who sacrifice so much to protect our great nation and their families. Since taking office, Steve has served as Chairman of the Veterans and Seniors Committee of the Suffolk County Legislature. He sponsored the "Housing Our Homeless Heroes Act" landmark legislation which creates housing for homeless veterans and their families. It is unacceptable that anyone who fought to protect the ground we stand on should come home to sleep on it. Steve also sponsored the "Protect Our Fallen Heroes Act," to protect military funerals from extremist protestors and ensure dignity for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. He has also sponsored real property tax exemptions for veterans. In Congress, Steve will continue his fight to end veteran homelessness and for the 21st Century GI Bill, and cut through the bureaucratic red tape and backlogs at the VA.
