A Real Reform Agenda

Steve is an avid supporter of commonsense reforms that will make our country more representative and turn down the volume on hyper-partisanship. He has been outspoken against gerrymandering and the Citizens United decision, both of which make our political system more divisive and less focused on serving the people and the community.

In Harrisburg, Steve introduced a joint resolution of the Pennsylvania House and Senate proposing a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would overturn the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in the Citizens United case, which allows corporations to contribute unlimited amounts of money to influence political campaigns.

As a state legislator, Steve does not accept perks like a state car, salary increases, or per diems. He has even proposed "No Budget, No Pay" legislation that would prevent elected officials from collecting their pay if a budget is not passed on time.

The federal government shut down demonstrated that when the government fails to get their work done, the economy is less secure and time and tax dollars are wasted. While "No Budget, No Pay" is not popular with his colleagues, Steve stands by this proposal. He is also focused on balancing the budget and working to eliminate debt so that our children and grandchildren do not inherit a mountain of debt.
