Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) announced the introduction of a Senate resolution that she cosponsored commemorating Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated every year between September 15th and October 15th. Additionally, Senator Murray cosponsored a resolution designating this week as "National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week" to recognize the 409 Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) throughout our nation for their work, achievements, and the critical role they play in educating and empowering Latino youth.

"I am proud to cosponsor these resolutions and highlight the incredible contributions of the Hispanic community in Washington state and throughout this country. As the largest ethnic minority group in the United States, Hispanics have made an immeasurable impact on our history and our culture," said Senator Patty Murray. "Not just this month, but year-round I will continue to stand and fight for Latino and Hispanic families as we recognize and honor the rich culture, diversity, and value of their communities."
