Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following Memorial Day statement:
"As we spend time with friends and family this weekend, I hope everyone takes a moment to think about the real meaning of the Memorial Day holiday--a day to honor and remember all of the men and women who have died in service to our country. They gave their lives in defense of our freedom, our security and our values. We are the country we are today because of their sacrifices."
