Ayotte Statement on Memorial Day

Statement

Date: May 25, 2015
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) today released the following statement in honor of Memorial Day 2015:

"Memorial Day is part of our sacred obligation to honor the generations of brave American servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our nation. We must never forget that our freedom is not free. We are blessed to live in the greatest country on Earth because of the men and women of our armed forces who gave their lives to uphold the ideals upon which our nation was founded -- freedom and justice for all. Today -- and every day -- we honor their selfless sacrifice.

"Today we also remember the men and women of our armed forces who are currently serving in harm's way in Afghanistan and around the globe. We thank them for their tremendous service and pray for their safety in the face of danger - and we count the days until their safe return home."
