Pro-choice a) Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Yes b) Do you support legalizing abortion when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape?
No c) Do you support the prohibition of public funds (e.g. Medicaid) for organizations that perform abortions?

Yes b) Do you support a decrease in income taxes in order to promote economic growth?
Yes c) Do you support a wealth tax in order to pay for public programs in your state?
I support limiting the tax burden on people with limited or moderate means. But people with lots of wealth should pay their fair share, and currently, they do not.
No a) Do you support capital punishment for violent crimes?
No b) Should an individual under 18 accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult?
No c) Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police?
No d) Do you support the use of private prisons?
No e) Do you support mandatory minimum sentences for nonviolent drug offenders?
Yes a) Do you support state government spending as a means of promoting economic growth (e.g. grants, tax incentives)?
No b) Do you support reducing state government regulations on the private sector (e.g. for business or the environment)?
Yes c) Do you support an increase of the minimum wage of Montana?
Yes d) Do you support government spending on affordable housing projects in Montana?
Regarding regulations: We should be thoughtful and careful about them. Some are potent and productive, and others are less so. But generally speaking, without thoughtful regulation, the private sector will operate only in its own interest, interest that doesn't necessarily include the interests of the general public. Regarding housing: While the private sector should be the biggest engine for housing development, the government has a role to play, unless we don't care about people living on the street.
Yes a) Do you support adopting federal education standards (e.g. Common Core) in Montana?
No b) Do you support state funding for charter schools?
Yes c) Do you support increasing teacher salaries AND/OR benefits in Montana?
Yes d) Should immigrants in the United States who graduate from Montana high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities, regardless of immigration status?
Immigrants have been an essential part of the economic engine that is the US throughout its history. We should empower these people to contribute to society...not keep them from contributing.

No b) Do you support state governments allowing permits for drilling on public lands?

Yes e) Do you support the implementation of ranked choice voting in Montana?
Yes f) Do you support changing Montana's elections to a "Top-Four" primary system?
Yes a) Do you generally support gun-control legislation (e.g. red flag laws, closing the boyfriend loophole)?
Yes b) Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows?
Yes c) Do you support the right to concealed carry in Montana?
Gun ownership is baked into Montana culture. That will not change. To keep ourselves safe, however, we must do what we can to keep weapons out of the hands of people most likely to attack residents, let alone attack the children in our schools. Let's be clear though: I have no interest in taking away guns from sane, law-abiding citizens.
Yes a) Should the state government increase funding for treatment facilities to combat opioid abuse?
Yes b) Do you support a government-run (e.g. single-payer) healthcare program such as Medicare-for-All?
Yes c) Should an individual have the right to choose to die (e.g. those with a terminal illness) through euthanasia?
Yes d) Do you support mandating vaccinations (e.g. for school or employment)?
Yes e) Do you support expanding paid family AND/OR medical leave benefits (e.g. maternity leave)?
Yes f) Should the government be able to regulate the cost of prescription drugs?
No g) Do you support the 2023 ban on gender-affirming medical care for minors passed in Montana?
Regarding healthcare programs, my position on this is pie in the sky, of course. We won't be moving in this direction as a state. I just believe that all Montanans should have easy access to healthcare, and leaders should be doing what they can to make this a reality.
Yes a) Do you support inclusion of sexual orientation in Montana's anti-discrimination laws?
Yes b) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Montana's anti-discrimination laws?
Yes c) Do you support greater efforts by Montana's state government in closing gender, racial, and other wage gaps?
1. Fair Taxation. Our current taxation situation in Montana is a mess. Residential property taxes have skyrocketed. This didn't happen in order to give us new services or supports. No, this happened in order to lessen the tax burden on corporate interests. This must change. 2. Freedom. The government needs to stay out of our private lives. It has no business telling us whether and when to have children, let alone how to raise them. 3. Family: We must invest fully in our public schools such that we maximize opportunities for all Montana children, opportunities that open doors to the American dream.
