Washington Congressional Election 2022 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Pro-Life and Pro-Choice are not mutually exclusive and I am both. I believe we should avoid using political party labels to describe policy and instead provide objective descriptions, such as Pro-abortion rights and Anti-abortion rights, or Pro-right to choose v. Anti-right to choose.
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support social safety net programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
We need to increase benefits proportionate to the rising costs of living.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations, unions, and individuals?
No Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
Not if that misconduct is intentional and illegal. No individual should be shielded from their own intentional wrongdoing.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
Not at this time.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
Yes Do you support the federal government taking action, beyond those of the Federal Reserve, to alleviate inflation?
Due to the erosion of social benefit programs over the last 3 decades, I believe we need to reinvest in social benefit programs that serve individuals and small businesses to strengthen local economies, not just national and global. We must also strengthen Unions so laborers are able to negotiate fair wages, benefits and protections.
Yes Do you support the forgiveness of federal student loan debt?
No Do you support requiring a government-issued identification in order to vote at the polls?
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Yes Do you support a government-run (single-payer) healthcare program, such as Medicare-for-All?
Yes Do you support expanding paid family AND/OR medical leave opportunities?
Yes Do you support lowering the cost of prescription drugs?
Yes Do you support increasing security along the southern US border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
We cannot have a one-size fits all deportation policy because each case is different. We do need clear, practical laws that focus on long-term solutions, not just short-term fixes.
Yes Do you support economic intervention as a means of resolving international conflicts?
Yes Do you support the U.S. providing increased offensive military aid to Ukraine?
No Do you support raising taxes, on any income or on any entity, to promote economic growth?
Just the top 1% and those that price-gouge and profit off human suffering.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
My top 3 priorities are strengthening labor and Unions to give the people the opportunity and leverage to negotiate fair, equitable wages, benefits and protections; Investing in children and families to ensure that anyone working full time has enough to care for themselves and their families, has resources in their community to ensure housing, food, employment, and a healthy, clean environment; and protecting our Constitutional democracy by removing those who violate their oaths of office, deny legitimate election results and attack our rights and freedom of choice.
