| Making health care available and affordable to all is a priority as is providing appropriate mental health programming and options for people seeking mental health supports. Another priority is providing a welcoming environment for asylum seekers and refugees. Supporting efforts to make a sustainable life in VT in terms of both economic viability for small towns and environmental preservation are also important. | |||
| I would like VT to designate alternative residential options for people in mental health crisis, such as the peer supported facility: Alyssum or other less restrictive options to hospitalization: like Alternatives in Springfield. These spaces that would be alternatives to hospitalization for people in crisis would pay for themselves quickly as the daily cost of a night in an alternative space is much lower than in a Tier 1 hospital bed and would also be in many cases a more therapeutic and appropriate form of care. |
