| New York state, like many states, is facing a budget crisis due to the health pandemic. During my first year in office, the biggest legislative fight will be around the state budget. New York faces a budget gap and conservative forces will argue that we must cut social services. But that is not what a just society does during a crisis -- we cannot leave people who have lost so much with even less. Rather than cut services, we must increase taxes on the wealthiest New Yorkers so that we can support the working class through this crisis. | |||
