Ohio Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I am pro choice. A woman's healthcare decisions are between her and her doctor. Roe v Wade is established law and we must protect women's healthcare.
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
We need to raise the income cap on Social Security to ensure that the wealthiest members of our society pay their fair share.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
I do not accept corporate PAC money because I believe our representatives should be accountable to the people, not large corporations. It's time we overturn Citizens United and return our democracy to the people.
No Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
Unknown Position Do you support increasing defense spending?
I support keeping the current levels of defense spending.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
The 2017 tax cut forced Ohioans to pay for the tax cuts of millionaires and large coporations. Meanwhile, working families have been left behind and are struggling to make ends meet. Trickle down economics has never worked--we should be reinvesting in our middle class and helping working families.
Yes Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Too many children receive subpar education based on the limited resources available in their zip code. The federal government needs to invest to ensure that no matter the zip code, students have access to the same educational opportunities and resources.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Climate change is an existential threat to our existence. I will vote to invest in green jobs and clean energy to get us to a carbon neutral economy.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Too many Americans have been affected by gun violence. Last year, my hometown of Dayton experienced a horror when we had a mass shooting. Unfortunately, it's not the first time people in the community have experienced gun violence. I am running to end gun violence. I believe we need strong gun safety laws, like universal background checks, Red Flag Laws, and banning assault weapons.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Unknown Position Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
The ACA expanded healthcare coverage to millions of Americans. We must protect the ACA and expand its protections to make healthcare more accessible and affordable for all.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
I support a pathway to citizenship for kids who were brought to this country through no fault of their own. I am strongly in favor of the DREAM Act.
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
Foreign diplomacy should always be the first step in conflict resolution. Should foreign diplomacy fail, however, military intervention should be utilized to protect the United States.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Some barriers are necessary to ensure that American workers here in Ohio are not being hurt by harmful policies from countries that cheat. We must, however, ensure that trade barriers are not harmful to small businesses and family farms who depend on international trade. Furthermore, we must ensure that tariffs are not passed on to American consumers.
I am running to give the people of Southwest Ohio a seat at the table. My priorities include ending gun violence, working for healthcare justice, and investing in jobs and opportunity. I believe in implementing universal background checks, an assault weapons ban, and Red Flag Laws. I am advocating for expanding ACA protections, protecting women's healthcare, and lowering the cost of prescriptions drugs. In order to invest our economy, I want to rebuild our infrastructure, invest in Green Jobs, and protect workers' right to organize.
