| Yes | g) Do you support sexual education programs that include information on abstinence, contraceptives, and HIV/STD prevention methods? | ||
| No | h) Do you support abstinence-only sexual education programs? | ||
| Although I do not support abortion personally, I do believe that a woman should be able to make that choice for herself. I also believe that this is as much a spiritual and moral decision as it is a personal one, and therefore, it should not be one made by legislation. | |||

| In these difficult economic times, we must prioritize the things that we as a state must do, and must do well. In addition, we must prioritize those things that are critical to job creation and stimulating the economy. However, we cannot simply spend without reducing expenditures. That is why the key is to prioritize or focus on a few things that we deem critical to our ability to return the prosperity as a state. | |||
| I believe that as we look at the current tax structure and it's declining ability to generating enough revenue, we must first consider taxes that are broad-based. We can no longer depend upon one key industry but must stabilize our revenue stream so that we can better absorbed changes in the economy that have an adverse effect on one or two industries. | |||
| I would also like to investigate the viability and revenue potential of a service tax on all services. | |||
c) Do you support limits on the following types of contributions to candidates for state government?
| Yes | a) Do you support limits on the number of terms for Nevada governors? | ||
| No | b) Do you support limits on the number of terms for Nevada state legislators? | ||
| Yes | 1) Individual | ||

| Yes | 4) Political Party | ||
| Yes | d) Should candidates for state office be encouraged to meet voluntary spending limits? | ||
| Yes | e) Do you support requiring full and timely disclosure of campaign finance information? | ||
| Generally, I believe that term limits are inherent in the election process. If the citizens of a state or district believe someone no longer adequately represents their interests, they have the right to vote that person out of office and should absolutely do so. | |||
| Yes | a) Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes? | ||
| Yes | b) Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders, such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment? | ||
| No | c) Should the possession of small amounts of marijuana be decriminalized? | ||
| No | d) Should a minor accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult? | ||
| Yes | e) Should a minor who sends sexually-explicit or nude photos by cell phone face criminal charges? | ||
| No | f) Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police? | ||
| There may be cases when a minor accused of a violent crime should be tried as an adult but that should be determined on a case by case basis. It should continue to be a crime to send sexually-explicit photos, however, the criminal charge should be commiserate with the crime. I believe that we need immigration reform ASAP. However, enforcing and establishing current immigration laws should be left up to the federal government. Otherwise, we would soon have 50 sets of laws, enforced in 50 different ways and history indicates that this is rarely (if ever) good. | |||
| Yes | a) Do you support reducing government regulations on the private sector? | ||
| Yes | b) Do you support increased state funding for job-training programs that re-train displaced workers? | ||
| Yes | c) Do you support expanding access to unemployment benefits? | ||
| Yes | d) Do you support providing financial incentives to the private sector for the purpose of job creation? | ||
| Yes | e) Do you support increased spending on infrastructure projects for the purpose of job creation? | ||
| Yes | f) Do you support providing direct financial assistance to homeowners facing foreclosure? | ||
| My responses above are based upon the current economic condition of the state. I am in favor of doing everything we can to stimulate job creation an growth. Reduced government regulation could lend to this, however, this also contributed to the failings of wall street so it much be done with great wisdom. Retraining workers and extending unemployment benefits are necessary in times like these. It gives people a bridge to better times. The same thinking is why I support assisting with foreclosures. Foreclosures hurt the economy and the family, therefore impact the community. | |||
| Yes | a) Do you support national education standards? | ||
| Yes | b) Do you support requiring public schools to administer high school exit exams? | ||
| Yes | c) Do you support using a merit pay system for teachers? | ||
| Yes | d) Do you support state funding for charter schools? | ||
| Yes | e) Do you support the state government providing college students with financial aid? | ||
| Yes | f) Should illegal immigrants who graduate from Nevada high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities? | ||
| Education is one of the keys to retuning our state to economic prosperity and I support doing things that will improve our education system and positioning. This includes rewarding those teachers that are doing a great job. In also includes encouraging more Nevada high school students to attend college. One's immigration status should not impact this. While the immigration system is reformed, it is better to have educated non-citizens than those that cannot get a legal job. In addition, many of these students were brought here by their parents and had no say in their status. | |||
| Yes | a) Do you support state funding for the development of alternative energy? | ||
| No | b) Do you support state funding for the development of traditional domestic energy sources (e.g. coal, natural gas, oil)? | ||
| No | c) Do you support providing financial incentives to farms that produce biofuel crops? | ||
| Yes | d) Do you support state funding for improvements to Nevada's energy infrastructure? | ||
| Yes | e) Do you support state funding for open space preservation? | ||
| Yes | f) Do you support enacting environmental regulations aimed at reducing the effects of climate change? | ||
| State resources should be directed at projects that serve to maximize our potential in renewable energy. Nevada is uniquely positioned to be first and best in this area and I believe it is one of the keys to our return to economic prosperity. Resources should not be directed at more traditional sources as renewable sources are our future. I am not educated enough about biofuels and need to learn more about it before I can support directing funding in that area. I am, however, open to learning more. | |||
| Yes | a) Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns? | ||
| No | b) Do you support requiring background checks on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows? | ||
| Yes | c) Do you support allowing individuals to carry concealed guns? | ||
| No | d) Do you support requiring a license for gun possession? | ||
| I support the right to carry guns and would only support the existing restrictions on the purchase and possession of them. As for a license, I support the existing requirement for a permit but would not extend that to licensing. | |||
| No | a) Do you support a universally-accessible, publicly-administered health insurance option? | ||
| Yes | b) Do you support expanding access to health care through commercial health insurance reform? | ||
| No | c) Do you support interstate health insurance compacts? | ||
| No | d) Should individuals be required to purchase health care insurance? | ||
| Yes | e) Do you support monetary limits on damages that can be collected in malpractice lawsuits? | ||
| No | f) Do you support legalizing physician-assisted suicide in Nevada? | ||
| Yes | g) Do you support allowing doctors to prescribe marijuana to their patients for medicinal purposes? | ||
| I believe that health care reform is something that we have needed for a long time. As the greatest country in the world, we were the only industrialize nation without universal healthcare. That being said, I believe that there are many changes that will rightly be made to the current legislation. I am not knowledgeable enough about health insurance compacts and before I support them I would want to learn more. I believe it's important for everyone to have coverage, however, if certain people want to opt out, I believe they should have the opportunity to do so. | |||
| Yes | a) Should marriage only be between one man and one woman? | ||
| Yes | b) Should Nevada allow same-sex couples to form civil unions? | ||
| Yes | c) Do you support state funding for stem cell research? | ||
| Yes | d) Do you support state funding for embryonic stem cell research? | ||
| Yes | e) Do you support the state's use of affirmative action? | ||
| Yes | f) Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in Nevada's anti-discrimination laws? | ||
| Yes | g) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Nevada's anti-discrimination laws? | ||
| No | h) Do you support the legalization and regulation of a state lottery? | ||
| I am aware that Christians struggle with this because the Bible indicates that marriage should be between one man and one woman. I am no different However, I do not believe in discriminating against anyone, therefore, I cannot support legislation that does so. I believe that people are at choice and should be able to choose to live in whatever manner that pleases them, as long as it does not adversely impact others. My understanding is that stem cell research can be completed on embryos that will otherwise be disposed of. I support this. | |||
| Jobs/Economic Opportunity: We have to put Nevadans back to work. We have to guarantee businesses a tax-friendly environment and the schools and infrastructure they need. That means a partnership between business, government and the workforce. K-16 Education: Economic prosperity also relies upon good public education. The current system is in much need of reform in order to provide a world-class educational system that encourages students to learn grow and excel. Renewable Energy: Nevada can be first and best here. This will reduce the cost of doing business, improve the environment, create good paying jobs and secure a better economic future. |
