Reason for Seeking Public Office:
Throughout Lori's academic and professional career, she has been a leader on important issues affecting the African-American and low-income communities. Lori is running for public office because the 55th Assembly District has been underrepresented and short-changed by Albany for years. As a born and raised Brownsville resident, Lori personally understands the District's need for new servant hood and new leadership and is committed to providing it. As your Assemblywoman, Lori will keep doing what she has always done--fight for low-income populations and working families, and stand up for women so that community members get the services they deserve. Lori will also be a leader in the fight to get area schools the funding they need, improve housing conditions for NYCHA residents, create more affordable housing, and make our streets safer.
