Reason for Seeking Public Office:
You know that feeling -- the one in your gut when you know something is wrong, but you just can't pinpoint what it is? Well, more and more of us are feeling it. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that something is just not right in our country. Our leadership in government seems so distanced from the citizens they represent. For the first time in over a century, the majority of voters in this country support having independents in representative leadership. Whether they know it or not, it is because of a principle of life captured in this statement from a very wise man thousands of years ago "A man can not serve two masters."
In our government, elected representatives are supposed to serve the interest of their constituents. However, they are supported by the political parties and funded by those parties to win elections and re-elections. In exchange for that financial support, they are expected to vote the way of the party on various issues and legislation -- even if the majority of the district oppose the party leadership's position. More often, the representative votes with the leadership and the vocal and supportive minority within the party rather than on behalf of the voters.
For two decades, I have been forced to vote for the "lesser of two evils" or "against the other party". I have longed for a problem solver who will serve the people in the district over the party. I am no longer satisfied with this choice of vote, and I believe I am not alone.
If you have that feeling and you are tired of the vote of lesser of two evils, then I offer myself to serve you in the 5th district of Alabama in the US House of Representatives. It is my desire to serve this district in DC for our industry and our people as an independent -- no party affiliation -- so that I may truly serve the people of this district with no strings attached. No Lobbyists. No Quid Pro Quo. No Party. Just you, me and our vote in DC.
The challenges in our country are many.
We need principles over politics.
We need solutions over stalemate.
We need vision over vindication.
We need cooperation over conflict.
Our liberty and prosperity are at stake. The future generations will look back and ask "Why did you let this nation fall?" What will be our answer?
If you agree, I would be honored to serve you. Keep checking back for more news and notes on the campaign and issues.
