Reason for Seeking Public Office:
Unlike some, I did not grow up with the dream of elected office. However, I did grow up with the life motivation of service. I served my nation for twenty years as an active duty military officer, I served my community in a variety of volunteer positions; coach, Scoutmaster, various civic boards, and as a Village Trustee. I served God and my church as a lay volunteer and for the past fourteen years, as a pastor. Over that time I've watched as our nation and state wandered away from the values and ideals that made them great. I've watched BIG government insert itself into areas best handled by local government and the private sector. I've watched the erosion of the moral foundations that lead to ethical and principled decision-making. In the recent past, I've been encouraged by our state's pull-back from the brink of financial ruin, but we still have much to do to restore economic, political, and moral health to the culture of our state. A few months ago, I had the opportunity to engage with state government as part of my duties as a Village Trustee. I came away from the experience believing that I could no longer complain about the legislature if I was unwilling to be part of the solution. I recognized that my experience in the military, the business world and pastoral ministry would serve the citizens of the 75th Assembly District well and so I am running to serve my community and state as Representative to the State Assembly.
