Reason for Seeking Public Office:
My ideas lie within economic development, improving education, and improving vital infrastructure. Yes, this may seem cliché, but hear me out and I will answer your multitude of questions within my response.
I don't come from a well-off family or a family with a rich history in politics or public policy. However, I do come a from a long line of Oklahomans who have worked hard, paid their taxes, and instilled the ideology within their children that to give to others is always more gratifying than to just give to oneself.
Education is so important to me because my proudest moment is being the first in my family of six to graduate (College). Thus, setting a new standard for my three sisters to follow. With one sister attending my alma mater as we speak. Education gave me the knowledge foundation I needed to hone in my deepest ambitions to be a political leader and ambassador of our democratic philosophy.
I feel that we short change our educational system through all ranks and try to justify the ever shrinking appropriations to education as means to an end, with the end being a reduced deficit and the hopes of a balanced budget. By funding our educational system more we will get more tax dollars back through the rise of talented individuals getting educated in our schools and thus improving the quality of workforce to help retain and attract big business and industry. We must work with business and industry to ensure our school's curriculum is built around their needs, with not compromising the core competencies that must be garnered through an education.
However, big business and industry must not be the only driving force of job creation. I was blessed with the opportunity to work through the State of Oklahoma and its economic development program at Rogers State University. Where I was able to work hand-in-hand with growing businesses and entrepreneurs/startups to grow their business. This opportunity allowed me the ability to work with state, county, and city leaders to devise plans to help cultivate a healthier business climate for these businesses to succeed.
Through these opportunities I provided hands on training to help businesses and communities learn how to better market themselves for the global economic market that we live in, thanks to the rise of the internet. I was able to directly impact businesses to help stimulate job creation and both public and private sector investments into those companies. Thus, leading to an increase in tax dollars for the state and helping cut down the unemployment rate throughout Oklahoma.
While for infrastructure, yes I am talking about roads, rail, and public buildings. However, I am also talking about improving our information technology (IT) infrastructure. Thus, working directly with Google, who has a facility at the MidAmerica Industrial Park in Pryor, Oklahoma, to cultivate plans for both public and private investment to get high speed internet via their fiber cables to not only our major cities, but to our rural communities where businesses are scratching at the doors of providers needing a way to sell their products and services more efficiently (e.g. online e-commerce stores).
My job outside of public policy is helping run a startup marketing agency where I serve as the Chief Strategy Officer. At this business we focus on providing digital marketing products and services to manufacturers in Oklahoma. I serve to cultivate plans to achieve set objectives for these clients. While I also serve to cultivate strategies for our business as a whole. This position allows me to work within large and medium sized manufacturers who are seeking ways to grow their business and thus grow jobs, intrastate commerce, and interstate commerce.
But at the end of the day, I do what I do because I love Oklahoma and I want to see us develop competitive advantages that increases business and industry while also increasing the quality of life for our inhabitants, both humans and animals.
