Reason for Seeking Public Office:

WHY I'M RUNNING

California faces many challenges today. We have high unemployment, a major energy crisis, tax rates that are forcing native Californians to flee and corporations to abandon the Golden State. Our education system, K-College used to be one of the most glorious in the country, now we have mountains of debt and we are failing our kids. Unfunded liabilities to public employees need to be fixed immediately and nobody has the guts to take these issues on. Additionally, public unions should not be allowed to hold commuters hostage by striking as we saw recently with the Bart Strike.

As our state moves closer to becoming the first in the nation to declare bankruptcy, states like Nevada, Arizona and Texas are prospering because of their business friendly environments. Texas is in a perfect position to do to California what the South did to Detroit with the auto industry. Have you seen the pictures of Detroit lately? I'm intent on making sure that never happens here. And the last thing protecting California from an all-out exodus, Prop 13 is at risk as already seven bills have gone through the legislature to change that proposition that has helped people persevere through rising property tax rates in California. Lastly, we need our legislators to stay focused on the issues that really matter to Californians, and not to issues that are intrusive and overbearing that have nothing to do with why they were elected, like allowing kids to choose which gender bathroom they use!

My name is Peter Kuo. I'm proud to announce my candidacy for the California State Senate, District 10. I moved to the United States in 1982 when the political climate in Taiwan was such that many left our beloved country. Regrettably, the lack of cooperation between our elected officials resembles what we saw back then. As John F. Kennedy said, "Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer." We owe it to our kids to be civil, cooperative and to find common ground so that all Californians can feel they have proper representation in Sacramento.

I'm running to bring Common Sense Solutions to California. I'm running for my wife and my three beautiful kids. I'm running because I've been blessed, to live the American Dream and I want each and every Californian to pursue their dream as well. I'm Peter Kuo, and I hope to earn your support.

I want to serve the community that has given me so much. (Candidate Submitted 2016)
