Priority Issues:

1. Education - Represents most of our state budget relegated to directly benefit the people of North Carolina. We already spend enough money to educate our children well. The problem with our schools is not the teacher, the parent, nor the student. Their relationship has been destroyed by overzealous administrations, large districts that lack personal interaction and responsiveness to parents' needs, and wasteful spending.
2. Tax Policy - Again, I go into greater detail on my website, www.voterivette.com, but suffice it to say that North Carolina ranks 44th in the nation in business climate and has high unemployment simply because companies do not want to locate here or expand here. It is far too costly to them. We can cheerlead all we want but they won't come here. Our state sits next to more attractive location. They cannot profit nor pay workers more, nor grow in these conditions. We need some drastic and bold changes to occur. I am saying this from the perspective of a business owner who tried for years to get companies to move here. They move to Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina and nearby, but avoid North Carolina. We need to ask ourselves why?
We must eliminate the entire state income tax, estate tax, gas tax, and most corporate taxes. Big companies and little ones with just a few employees are dying from taxation and regulation. We need zero taxes on energy production and development, zero on manufacturing expansion and establishing high-paying career jobs in this state. There are many more areas to discuss but basically we must move from 44th to number one. We must be the most attractive state in the nation, and also work on gaining foreign investment to build factories, plants, and distribution centers to put every back to work. We need to eliminate most corporate tax to spur energy development so that our gas, grocery and other prices can come down. Energy is required for everything.
3. Natural Resource Development - North Carolina is blessed to be not only one of the largest agricultural states, but also has an incredible infrastructure ready to expand energy development and production, mining, and industrial production. We are NOT using our own God given resources. This is unconscionable. We must develop our oil, gas, and mineral resources. Expansion in those areas will create thousands of very good jobs and careers. This action will also result in the decrease of consumer prices you pay for gas and groceries.
Natural resources affect us all. They are our blessing. We cannot allow a Federal government to tell North Carolina what we can do in our own backyards. On our land. We are a state whose individual rights are being violated. And because of it your family is suffering.

Put our state back to work. Eliminate taxes to grow viable business and supply good jobs. Give every family school choice now. Lower gas and grocery prices through use of our own resources.

Reason for Seeking Public Office:

The simple answer is I don't believe that others have stepped up to address the most vital issues facing North Carolina and this nation. Each state stands economically on its own, but also has great impact on what it contributes to the whole nation. I feel that in order for all Americans to succeed economically and in other ways, we all have to move forward at the state level. Secure, vital states will form a better nation. Insecure, welfare overburdened states detract from our nation's strength. When every family has full employment or owns their own business this state and country will succeed. Revenue will be higher than now, and all needs for those unable to work will be met. I hope to use my experience and knowledge to help create the foundation necessary for propelling North Carolina forward.
