Priority Issues:
Michelle recognizes that the place she calls home, the 8th assembly district, is the region that made California great through its rich resources, landscapes and diverse people. She wants to ensure that the region is a vital part of maintaining California?s place as a leader of the global economy. Making the region economically friendly for businesses, agriculture and families is chief among her aims. Her top priorities will be things that these entities need to flourish: jobs and the economy, water and agriculture and the budget.
Publications:
The Economist, Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Instyle
Reason for Seeking Public Office:
Michelle has worked across the aisle with both Republicans and Democrats in Congress and the California State Assembly. It was her time as the legislative advocate for a California Women?s group, from 2007-2009, that served as the linchpin for her own run for state assembly. Her job in Sacramento was to advocate the group's stances on public policy within various subcommittees and in the budget committee. While working in the Capitol she gained a great familiarity with the inner workings of our government and a definitive understanding, not just of how our system works, but also of how it is deeply flawed and how it must be changed to work for Californians.
