Current Car:
A 2003 Ford Windstar and a 2006 Jeep Commander are what we use to haul our family of six and wood around the state. Given the increasing cost of gasoline and home heating oil, it has become necessary to refrain from unnecessary travel and take advantage of every opportunity to offset the cost of heating our home. Families across the state are facing serious challenges and the legislature has repeatedly failed to take simple steps to ease these burdens on its residents when it had the opportunity to do so back in May and in June. Now, only when it is the beginning of campaign season, do they re-evaluate their poor policies. Give me a break!
Favorite Book:
The Holy Bible. It is not reserved for religious people alone. It provides a great picture of humanity and its struggles. From it, people can draw a great deal of inspiration and wisdom. We could all use more of both.
Favorite President and Why:
I have two favorite Presidents: Ronald Regan and Thomas Jefferson.
Regan - He was a person filled with a passion for the people of this country and a clear sense of responsibility to them. He was not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, and his administration could be described as tough-love. Our current leaders are too busy worried about getting re-elected to take the kinds of positions that he did - the determination that we need today if our country is ever to improve.
Jefferson - Though widely misquoted in his letter to CT pastor about his position on the separation of church and state, he adopted a strict interpretation of the US Constitution. In essence it is the ceiling on the government's power but the floor of citizen's rights. He was a firm believer in a small Federal government and empowering the states (the local people) to legislate to the needs of its citizenry.
Most people do not realize it, but most of the legislation that impacts them is generated at the state level, and not from Washington DC; yet they all know who the President is, and cannot seem to remember who represents them at the State House (we can thank the media for that).

Reason for Seeking Public Office:
Individuals and businesses cannot afford to live in our great state anymore. The legislation of recent years is compounding the impact of this economic downturn. As a result of their failed policies, we are barely able to hang on. We need to put fresh ideas on the table and have meaningful discussions about how we can attract businesses and jobs to Connecticut, while providing a safe and compassionate atmosphere in which our communities can grow.
The current formula does not work. My opponent has had the past 18 years to accomplish this, and we are not only dealing with many of the same old problems, but more challenging issues as a result.
We need to change out the old guard of incumbents and elect people who are willing to make decisions that are in the best interest of the our citizens. Robin Williams has been quoted as saying, 'Politicians are like diapers. They need to be changed often and for the same reason.'
Please visit my website at www.Adamsons08.com to look at specific issues that need to be addressed immediately. It is not about Republicans or Democrats, and is all about improving the state for our families and businesses. I am not in this for a career, but to make Connecticut a place that my children can afford to live in and retire in. Let's make it happen Connecticut!
