Harry Truman. A man of humble beginnings, he had the courage to take American through very difficult times. One must read David G McCullough's comprehensive study of the president. Also view Gary Sinise's portrayal in the movie based on the book, "Truman."

First Car:

1972 1/2 Ford Gran Torino station wagon. It took all the abuse a teen and his friends could dish out. Build, sounded like, and actually looked like an armored vehicle! Equipped with a 318. Green like the Hulk -- it's nickname was just that.

Customer Service ("bag boy") National Supermarkets.

Personal Hero and Why:

My Wife -- Intelligent, creative, hard working, quick, and beautiful. She completes me.

My Dad -- He kept a roof over my head, food in my belly, and taught me the value of mercy for all creatures, great and small.

Pets (include names):

Two chinchillas: Mattyas (named after famous Hungarian king of the Renaissance, pronounced "mot-yash"), and Fernando (named after an Abba song that is one of Judy's favorites... He has a funny patch of fur on his forehead that looks like a Latin pompadour.)

Priority Issues:

Education, infrastructure/reasonable development (roads/sidewalks and transport), environment, reasonable campaign finance limits, development, public safety and preparedness, economy, health care, protecting children, senior citizen's concerns, veteran's affairs.

I wrote an article for a Hungarian University's journal on American impressions of Europe in 1996.

Reason for Seeking Public Office:

As a teacher, I strive to be as objective and independent as possible. Many of my students kept asking me why, if I was so good at teaching government, didn't I run for office? (Leave it to students to tell it like it is...) I had also been asked to consider running by past and current House leadership. Therefore, I felt called to serve.
