Favorite Food:

Favorite President and Why:
George Washington is my favorite President. He personifies what we need in our elected officials. He relied on God for direction and followed his convictions, often in the face of overwhelming oppostion. It could be argued he single handledly held the union together by the force of his personality. He lead by example, was selfless and not motivated by the blind ambition which has captured many politicians today.
Favorite Quote:
All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
Mother's Occupation:
Chemist
Personal Hero and Why:
I have a a number of people I admire. One of them is my best friend's father, Don Mirts. He has passed away but is still remembered long after his death as a wonderfully moral and influential businessman and devoted father and husband. He did good at every opportunity and did not seek the limelight. His friends included people from the lowest social levels to the highest of the social order but he treated everyone equally. The one thing I will always remember was his faith in Jesus and his desire to have as many people exposed to the Gospel as possible. His faith in Christ was the bedrock of his life and was the most important aspect of his life.
Reason for Seeking Public Office:
My favorite quote "all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing" sums it up. We have too many people in elective office who have done nothing else and see public office on a par with being a rock star rather than as an avenue to serve. Many bring no practical or significant life experiences to their office but yet they view themselves as the source of all knowledge and wisdom. Thus, we in CA have a budget passed which is $16,000,000 out of balance, failed public education, people who are illegally in our country with the rights of citizens, and escallating criminal activity. CA is the one state which can be said leads the nation and we are failing to lead effectively.
