Title: Prohibits the Use of PFAS Chemicals in Apparel and Diaper Products
Vote to amend and pass a bill that prohibits the use of perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) chemicals in apparel and diaper products in New Jersey.
Prohibits the sale, manufacture, or distribution of any apparel or diaper product containing intentionally added perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) (Sec. 1).
Requires manufacturers of these products to certify that each product does not contain intentionally added PFAS (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the certification shall be valid for 5 years, or it must be renewed each time the manufacturer modifies the apparel process or components (Sec. 1).
Requires manufacturers to provide a copy of the certification to every customer (Sec. 1).
Classifies violations of this provision as a violation of P.L. 2025, c.202 and subjects all violators to the penalties associated with this act (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this act takes effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 4).
