Vote to amend and pass a bill that prohibits the use of perfluoroalkyl or polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) chemicals in apparel and diaper products in New Jersey.

Highlights:

• Prohibits the sale, manufacture, or distribution of any apparel or diaper product containing intentionally added perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) (Sec. 1).

• Requires manufacturers of these products to certify that each product does not contain intentionally added PFAS (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that the certification shall be valid for 5 years, or it must be renewed each time the manufacturer modifies the apparel process or components (Sec. 1).

• Requires manufacturers to provide a copy of the certification to every customer (Sec. 1). 

• Classifies violations of this provision as a violation of P.L. 2025, c.202 and subjects all violators to the penalties associated with this act (Sec. 1).

• Specifies that this act takes effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 4).
