Title: Requires the State to Join the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that requires the state to enter the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact and establishes a new occupational license for respiratory care practitioners in Alaska.
Requires a respiratory care practitioner to use professional identification letters or a title after their name to represent their specific field of practice (Sec. 1).
Requires the State Medical Board to implement the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (Sec. 4).
Authorizes the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development to set fees for expedited licenses issued or renewed through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (Sec. 7).
Requires the State Medical Board to implement the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (Sec. 8).
Requires the State Medical Board to issue a psychologist license to a person who has been fingerprinted and has provided the fees required by the Department of Public Safety (Sec. 9).
Prohibits an individual from practicing respiratory care or representing themselves as a respiratory care practitioner unless licensed by the state (Sec. 14).
Requires the State Medical Board to do the following (Sec. 15):
Implement the Social Work Licensure Compact; and
Appoint a member of the board to serve as a delegate on the Social Work Licensure Compact Commission.
This Act shall take effect January 1, 2027 (Sec. 34).
