Title: Prohibits the Use of Wearable Devices to Record Conversations Without Consent
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that prohibits the use of wearable devices to record in-person conversations without consent in Louisiana.
Prohibits any participant in a direct conversation from intentionally using a wearable eyeglass recording device to record or transcribe a conversation with any other participant unless all participants are notified of the recording or transcription (Sec. 1).
Exempts the following from the provisions of this section (Sec. 1):
Public or semi-public meetings;
Law enforcement activity;
Emergencies or first responder activities;
Certain recordings of public officials or law enforcement officers performing official duties;
Recordings made for the purpose of preserving evidence for a civil, criminal, or administrative proceeding;
Recordings made in one’s own residence, vehicle, or place of employment; and
Recordings or transcriptions of a conversation if the individual recording/transcribing is not a participant.
Specifies that any individual found in violation of this section is liable for damages including court costs and attorney fees (Sec. 1).
