Title: Establishes a Crime of Grooming a Child for Sexual Activity
Vote to pass a bill that establishes a crime of grooming a child for sexual activity in Wisconsin.
Prohibits an individual from engaging in a course of conduct, pattern of behavior, or series of acts with the intention to condition, seduce, solicit, lure, or entice a child for the purpose of engaging in sexual intercourse or sexual contact, or for the purpose of producing, distributing, or possessing depictions of the child engaged in sexually explicit conduct (Sec. 44).
Classifies a violation of this act as crimes of the following degrees (Sec. 44):
A Class G felony;
If the person is in a position of trust or authority over the child, a Class F felony;
If the child has a developmental, cognitive, or physical disability that is known by the offender, a Class E felony; and
If the violation involves 2 or more children, a Class D felony (Sec. 44).
Exempts individuals under the age of 19 if a violation involves a minor who is not more than four years younger than the individual unless the violation involves force, coercion, or abuse of a position of trust or authority (Sec. 44).
