Vote to pass a bill that prohibits individuals from holding themselves as music therapists without holding a valid certification in Pennsylvania.

Highlights:

• Prohibits an individual who is not a credentialed music therapist from the following (Sec. 3):

• Holding oneself out as a music therapist or as being certified by the Certification Board for Music Therapists; and

• Using the initials MT-BC or any other insignia implying that the individual is a music therapist.

• Specifies that an individual may use music in the performance of their profession or occupation if they do not engage in prohibited conduct as described above (Sec. 3).

• Classifies an intentional violation of this act as a third degree misdemeanor (Sec. 4).

• Specifies that a violation of this act is deemed an unfair or deceptive act or practice in violation of the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law (Sec. 5).

• Specifies that this Act shall take effect 60 days after passage (Sec. 6).
