Title: Prohibits Individuals from Presenting as a Music Therapist Without Valid Certification
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits individuals from holding themselves as music therapists without holding a valid certification in Pennsylvania.
Prohibits an individual who is not a credentialed music therapist from the following (Sec. 3):
Holding oneself out as a music therapist or as being certified by the Certification Board for Music Therapists; and
Using the initials MT-BC or any other insignia implying that the individual is a music therapist.
Specifies that an individual may use music in the performance of their profession or occupation if they do not engage in prohibited conduct as described above (Sec. 3).
Classifies an intentional violation of this act as a third degree misdemeanor (Sec. 4).
Specifies that a violation of this act is deemed an unfair or deceptive act or practice in violation of the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law (Sec. 5).
Specifies that this Act shall take effect 60 days after passage (Sec. 6).
