Title: Authorizes Expired Civil Claims of Sexual Abuse to be Brought to Court
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that authorizes expired civil claims of sexual abuse to be brought to court in Rhode Island.
Specifies that negligent supervision of a person that sexually abused a minor, or other conduct which contributed to childhood sexual abuse, is eligible for a claim of abuse for up to 35 years after the act was alleged to have happened (Sec. 1).
Requires cases related to childhood sexual abuse that have expired due to a statute of limitations be revived and commenced by June 30, 2028 (Sec. 1).
Authorizes the awarding of damages in such cases of up to $100,000 (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this Act shall take effect on July 1, 2026 (Sec. 3).
