Title: Prohibits Sales Of Hemp-Derived Consumable Products to People Under 21
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits the sale of hemp-derived consumable products to people under 21 in North Carolina.
Prohibits the sale or delivery of hemp-derived consumable products and kratom products to a person who is under 21 years of age (Sec. 1).
Requires someone engaged in the sale of hemp-derived consumable products and kratom products to demand proof of age from prospective purchasers if they have reasonable grounds to believe they are under 21 years of age (Sec. 1).
Prohibits the purchase of hemp-derived consumable products and kratom products by a person who is under 21 years of age (Sec. 1).
Classifies a violation of this Act as a Class 2 misdemeanor punishable by a $500 fine for a first offense, a $1000 fine for a second offense, and a $1,500 fine for a third and subsequent offenses (Sec. 1).
Prohibits any of this Act’s provisions from being construed as authorizing the sale, delivery, or possession of hemp, hemp products, hemp-derived consumable products, or kratom products that are not otherwise authorized under state or federal law (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this Act is effective December 1, 2026, and applies to all offenses committed on or after that date (Sec. 2).
