Title: Requires Determination of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Applicants' Immigration Status
Vote to pass a bill that requires determination of SNAP applicants' immigration status, and notification of federal immigration officials when an applicant in Oklahoma is unverified as a citizen.
Requires the Department of Human Services to use the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services’ Systematic Alien Verification of Entitlements (SAVE) system to determine the citizenship of those applying to receive benefits under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program (Sec. 1).
Requires the Department of Human Services to report TANF applicants found not to be lawfully in the United States to the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office (Sec. 1).
Requires the Department of Human Services to use the SAVE system to determine the citizenship of those applying to receive benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) (Sec. 2).
Requires the confirmation of a SNAP applicant’s legal status in the U.S. before they receive benefits (Sec. 2).
Requires the Department of Human Services to report SNAP applicants found not to be lawfully in the United States to the Oklahoma Attorney General’s Office (Sec. 2).
Requires the Attorney General’s office to review the cases they receive and notify the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) if the applicant’s legal presence in the US is not verifiable (Sec. 1-2).
Specifies that the Department of Human Services will post a notice on its website providing information about SNAP to notify applicants that their immigration status will be reviewed and that ICE will be notified if it is found to be unverified (Sec. 2).
Specifies that this Act will take effect on October 1, 2026 (Sec. 3).
