Title: Authorizes Use of Campaign Funds and Other Personal Security Measures for Elected Officials
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes use of campaign funds and other personal security measures for elected officials in Washington.
Specifies that “personal security measures” may include nonstructural security devices, structural security devices, licensed security personnel and services, and cybersecurity technologies (Sec. 1).
Authorizes political candidates to use surplus campaign funds for personal security measures to address threats or dangers that arise from their status as a candidate or elected official (Sec. 2).
Requires that personal security measures be reasonably proportional to the scope of the danger and purchased at the normal and usual charge (Sec. 2).
Prohibits the use of surplus campaign funds to reimburse payments made to the candidate’s spouse, domestic partner, children, relatives, relatives’ spouses, in-laws, or an entity in which any person described has a personal beneficial interest (Sec. 2).
