Title: Requires Public Schools to Offer JROTC Programs to Private and Home School Students
Vote to pass a bill that requires JROTC programs to be offered by public schools to private and home school students in Alabama.
Requires access to Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) programs to students who are home schooled or attend a private school, who is a dependent of an active duty military parent, and who satisfies all applicable eligibility requirements (Sec. 1).
Authorizes qualified students who live within the boundaries of a local school system to participate in their JROTC programs (Sec. 1).
Requires qualified students who do participate in the JROTC program to enroll as a nontraditional public school student (Sec. 1).
Authorizes the act to become effective on July 1, 2026 (Sec. 2).
